Oil...

Doesn't this make you sad? ... It does me, especially since we had our hearts set on a beach wedding. Thankfully the Alabama coastline doesn't look like this (just yet), but it's kind of scary to continue planning a wedding in a place where this could potentially be the end result if BP doesn't get their act together. So, we're changing locations. More to come soon.

Infuriating... On a MILLION and one different levels...

THE Day is Almost Here...

...And you'll never guess how pumped this gentleman is!!!

Please clear your calendars for August 7, 2010 at nine o'clock in the morning! We expect ALL to be in attendance to celebrate with us!

Thrift Store, Anyone?

We opted out of going to the pool today... Both to give ourselves a rest AND to do something else! Dave was a SUPER great buddy today :) I had a few places on my "to do" list that I wanted to visit this afternoon, and he was so sweet to go with me (and if you know Dave, you know this isn't something that happens very often)!
We BOTH came out empty handed (can you believe that?), but had a blast! Just getting to the door was quite the feat with people in cars NEVER checking up on the gas! HA!

Knobs!

So, I've been toying with the idea of changing the knobs on Dave's chest of drawers...

He's not so keen on this idea, but I know he'll like it in the end (or at least I'm hoping!). There are currently TWO different sets of knobs on the chest. I'm trying to figure out which one I liked best. The smooth ones have an additional design on the underside (which I failed to photograph) that make them look a little extra special!
NOW... Because of my dilemma, I'm going to open the floor for suggestions :) What do you think?
*Please excuse the blurriness of the pictures. I took them on Dave's phone*

Happy Fourth of July... Weekend!

Saturday: We kicked off our holiday weekend in quite a few ways. I started with scouring our town for yard sales (which didn't end so well for me). Then, Dave and I made our usual visit to Chick-Fil-A for lunch and then some pool time!
Sunday: Attendance at TCAT was definitely LOW, but we were happy we went! We decided on our way home that BBQ from a special place was in order! Immediately upon entering the car, though, Dave found a station playing patriotic music and belted out some tunes on our drive to lunch :)
Dreamland BBQ was our holiday meal of choice! And I must say... I got the best pork sandwich I have ever had there (and was pretty pumped about it)! After lunch came more pool time! We were on a strict schedule and had to make the most of our day! We enjoyed a few quiet moments at the pool, but then the stragglers started coming :) A particular radio station had been advertising "the biggest fireworks show in West Alabama" was going to be at Sokol Park, so we made plans early to write that into our schedule for the day! We knew the likelihood of it being as wonderful as last year's fireworks (on Las Vegas Blvd) was slim, but we were excited nonetheless. After showers and a little down time, we headed out towards TCAT to park the car and see what the hype was about prior to the fireworks! Between funnel cakes and live music, a good time was definitely had! A little girl that had been sitting in front of us with her parents, gave Dave her balloon right before she left. She had told her mom that she didn't want it.... she was afraid it would take her away! Later, another family came with a small toddler and we return the sweet favor by giving the balloon to her. She seemed pretty excited! All in all, the weekend has been a blast. I had a fun play date with my mom on Monday while Dave had a lazy day and some quiet time! When I got back from Birmingham, Dave was raring to go to the movies! He's been wanting to see GROWN UPS along with that new Tom Cruise movie. We made it to see GROWN UPS :) If you're looking for a fun, light-hearted movie, this is it! You'll laugh until you can't laugh anymore! We are so thankful to be able to celebrate this Fourth Day of July and to honor those who came before us AND who are currently fighting to keep our country a land of great opportunity! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! It is truly great to be an American... Today and every day hereafter!
